RedStone, a data layer for institutional DeFi, has received funding from the Canton Foundation, through the Canton Development Fund, to develop the Canton Access and Privacy Standard (CAPS).
CAPS is an open-source framework for institutional market-data infrastructure on Canton, and the firms say it is designed to let institutions price transactions on Canton without revealing certain information to data providers.
The firms explain that RedStone publishes a shared, timestamped reference price, while each participant calculates its own transaction value using that reference; this allows counterparties to work from a consistent market price without revealing their settlement values or underlying positions to the data provider.
Canton reports over 600 institutions have joined the network, which support more than US$9 trillion in tokenised real-world assets and over US$350 billion in daily US Treasury repo transactions.
As a result, the firm says CAPS addresses the requirement of access to reliable market data that protects sensitive information by helping create the pricing and data infrastructure needed to support complex financial products, deeper liquidity, and wider institutional adoption.
The initial development roadmap covers pricing for tokenised funds, private market assets, and structured products, says the firms.
RedStone states it will release the framework, including its pricing calculations and licensing module, under the Apache 2.0 open-source license, allowing other data providers to adapt the infrastructure for their own services.
Marcin Kaźmierczak, co-founder and chief operating officer of RedStone, says: “CAPS lets institutions run repo, collateral, and settlement for tokenized funds, private-market assets and structured products on Canton without revealing their positions or terms.
“It also gives premium data providers, like the largest traditional exchanges, a way to bring their data onchain with their licensing terms still enforced. We’re releasing CAPS as open source so the standard grows with the network and ensures widest adoption.”
Viv Diwakar, head of the Canton Foundation, adds: “Canton’s growth depends on connecting more assets, liquidity, and institutions through common standards that protect sensitive data and enable interoperability.
“By supporting open-source initiatives like CAPS, the Foundation is helping establish a shared privacy and licensing framework that enables multiple data providers to serve the network, strengthening competition, resilience, and efficiency across institutional finance.”
