Smartstream has announced two new model context protocol (MCP) servers for Smart Collateral, the firm’s automated data solution.

Firms can connect an MCP-compatible AI assistant directly to their collateral management platform and interact with it conversationally.

The first server converts Smart Collateral’s integration APIs into a secure, AI-operable toolset covering agreements, positions, margin activity, and interest calculations, while the second provides AI assistants with read-only access to Smart Collateral’s reporting database.

The AI can also pre-validate proposed collateral movements against existing eligibility and concentration rules prior to execution.

Additionally, the infrastructure supports development teams, helping them to scaffold integration code, generate reconciliation and exception-handling routines, and prototype automation workflows — all while remaining subject to the firm’s existing review, testing, and deployment process.

Jason Ang, programme manager for Smart Collateral at Smartstream, states: “Collateral teams spend too much of their day hunting for answers and writing integration code.

“These MCP servers let firms point an AI assistant of their choosing straight at Smart Collateral, interrogating reporting data on demand, operating the integration APIs and, only where they choose to enable it, acting under their control.

“Because we ship domain skills alongside the tools, the assistant already understands collateral workflows, so teams get accurate answers immediately rather than spending months bridging prompts to outcomes.

“It is an open, standards-based approach that keeps our clients in charge of their data, their workflows and their governance.”
